Wheelchair Accessibility
The Rural Transport Programme specialises in the provision
of facilities for disabled passengers including those using wheelchairs.
Our drivers are trained in Passenger assistance and wheelchair manoeuvring
and tiedown.
The wheelchair with the passenger on board is placed
on a hydraulic platform at the rear of the Bus and is then raised
to Bus floor level. The wheelchair is then wheeled onto the Bus
and is tied down with approved specification straps. The passenger
is then secured with a lap and diagonal belt just as seat passengers
are.
Our drivers are professionally trained and are sympathetic
and understand the needs of our passengers so please do not hesitate
to ask for assistance.
All our scheduled routes are wheelchair
accessible.
On our demand responsive routes it is necessary to
book wheelchair numbers as it normally requires the removal of some
seats to accommodate the wheelchairs.
