South Kildare Community Transport Ltd (SKCT) was established
to service a Transport
deficit identified in South Kildare. The
main objective of the company is to provide a flexible and accesible
rural transport service to the community in particiculer those who
are socially disadvantaged either by disability, low income, social
status, gender or age. And to work with exsisting transport providers
and relevant agencies to develop a comprehensive local transport
network.
As part of a need identified at a national basis, Eight Pilot schemes
were set up around the counrty, South Kildare Community Transport
was included in the initial setup phase.
At present there are 36 Projects nationwide delivering services

The Company have generated over 150,000 passenger journeys since
May 2003 and SKCT plan to extend their services significantly in
the coming months.
